UN Security Council Resolution 1838

This resolution followed on from resolutions 1814 and 1816. Calls on states to suppress piracy and reaffirm UN Convention of Law of the Sea. Acting under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, the Security Council called upon States to take active part in the fight against Somali piracy and urged them to cooperate with the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia to do so.
