UN Security Council Resolution 1851

UN Security Council Resolution 1851

The fifth resolution in 2008 regarding the situation in Somalia. Of particular note is the Security Council’s encouragement to establish an international cooperation mechanism to act as a common point of contact between and among states, regional and international organizations on all aspects of combating piracy and armed robbery at sea off Somalia, thus providing the legitimacy for the Contact Group on Piracy off the Coast of Somalia (CGPCS) to be set up.
